2.     State Gauss’s law in electrostatics.
3.     Write two differences between emf and potential difference.
4.     When is the parallel combination of cells advantageous and why?
5.     What is transformer ratio? What type of transformer is used in a bed lamp?
6.     A current of 2A is passed through a coil of 1000 turns to produce a flux of 0.5Wb. Calculate the self inductance of the coil?
7.     Write any two uses of photo cell.
8.     Draw the circuit symbols of p-n-p and n-p-n transistor.
9.     What are the majority and minority charge carriers in a p-type semiconductor?
10.     Define modulation. Why it is necessary?
SECTION-B

11.     Describe the construction and working of an optical fiber. State its uses.
12.     Write any four applications of diffraction.
13.     Derive the equation for the couple acting of a bar magnet in a uniform magnetic field and deduce the definition of magnetic moment.
14.     Derive the expression for the energy stored in a capacitor. If a dielectric is introduced between plates how energy will change?
15.     Derive the balancing condition of a Wheatstone bridge.
16.     What is Seebeck effect? Explain how thermo emf varies with temperature in a thermocouple.
17.     What is Moseley’s law? Discuss briefly its importance.
18.     What is rectifier? Explain the working of Full wave rectifier.
SECTION-C
Answer any TWO questions                                                                  2 X 8 = 16M
19.     State transverse laws. Explain verification of them by using Sonometer. When string vibrates in three segments how many nodes and antinodes are formed?
20.     Explain construction and working of Moving Coil Galvanometer.
The coil in a moving coil galvanometer has an area 4cm2, and 500 turns. The intensity of magnetic induction is 2T. When a current of 10-4A is passed through it, the deflection is 20°. Find the couple per unit twist?
21.     Explain construction and working of nuclear reactor. 200MeV energy is released when one nucleus undergoes fission. Find the number of fissions per second required for to produce a power of 1megawatt?
